After finishing a B.A. in Economics at U of M in 1982, I chose the somewhat unusual path of a two year apprenticeship in hairdressing with Fay Thompson at Shear Impact in Ann Arbor. In 1989, I was asked to manage a new salon called Orbit Hair Design. It was the brainchild of Robin Vincent - a great friend and former workmate at Shear Impact.

Finding, training, and holding onto great stylists has been the key to the success of Orbit. We encourage independence among our stylists, while striving to feel as part of a team with a sense of pride in the salon.

I’ve owned Orbit since 1994, and I am proud to have played a part in building what I feel is an “Ann Arbor Original”. I have a son and daughter who are both University of Michigan grads. I run, play hockey, bass guitar, love to flyfish, and mostly lose at poker.
